ASIAN RIDERS ALL SET TO INVADE MXoN THIS WEEKEND

“Watch out for the Asian invasion of the FIM Motocross of Nations,” said FIM Asia President Stephan Carapiet in jest upon confirming the participation of motocross teams from Japan, Thailand and China in the 65th edition of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations scheduled on September 17-18 in St. Jean d’Angely in France. The event which is considered the Olympics of Motocross is an annual gathering of the world’s top motocross riders where they race for glory of flag and country in the MX1, MX2 and Open categories to determine the year’s winning nation.

Leading the Asian charge is the 19th seeded MFJ-Japan team composed of national motocross stalwarts Atsuta Yoshitaka (MX1) Mihara Takuya (MX2) and Arai Kiroaki (Open). The team manager of the Japanese team is Kageyaman Minoru.

Ruadreo Atison (MX1) Suksripaisan Jugkrit (MX2) and Thangthong Trakarn (Open) will represent the FMSCT-Thailand team with Postema Jan as the team manager.

Xu Jianhao (MX1), Yang Jie (MX2) and Lai Chi Fung (Open) will represent the CMSA-China team. The team is managed by Merel Michel and Xu Peng.

Stephan hailed the Motorcycle Federation of Japan (MFJ), the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of Thailand (FMSCT) and the Chinese Motor Sports Association (CMSA) for carrying the torch for the Asians in the annual world motocross event.

“The board of directors and member federations of FIM Asia wish the Japanese, the Thai and the Chinese motocross teams and federations all the best this weekend. We are optimistic that they will all do well and take pride in being well represented in this truly world-class and prestigious motocross event” said Stephan.

The FIM Asia President also took time out to express his gratitude to the organizers of the event. “We are grateful to FIM CMS Director Mr. Wolfgang Srb and Youthstream President Mr. Giuseppe Luongo for opening the doors of this celebrated motorcycle sport event to the Asians,” he added.
