Philippines To Asia Supercross Champs

The NAMSSA ( National Motorcycle Sports & Safety Association ) bet of the Philippines Glenn Aguilar ( MX2 class ) and Jan Carlo Rellosa of Bicol ( 85cc class ) shall be the country representative to the Round 3 of the 2006 FIM Asian Supercross Championships to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 6-8, 2006.

Currently Aguilar is running 5th position with 65 pts., behind current leader Turbo Theplib of Thailand on 1st with 84 points followed by 2nd placer Jye Harvey of Australia 82 pts., then Aep Dadang of Indonesia 76 pts. and fourth placer James Robinson of New Zealand 68 pts.

This is the third round of the Asian tour of which came from Guam for Round 1 and then to Puerto Princesa City in the Philippines for Round 2, after which the rounds shall visit Indonesia again and on to Dubai for the final round. The Macau round is still to be announced of the calendar of this years racing program.

Accompanying Aguilar shall be Arthur Valdez, Vice President of NAMSSA of whom is appointed FIM Jury President as the top official of the event proper. FIM President for Supercross & NAMSSA Philippines Managing Director, Macky Carapiet stated “ this event shall showcase the best motocross riders in our region from Japan, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Saipan & Guam and is good ground to fit our local talent against international riders after we have developed our grassroots sanctioned racing program locally, and send them abroad to learn more riding skills and improve the local racing standards when they return.

This program will be a preparation for the upcoming 2006 Camel Supercross International Championships to be held in the last quarter of this year starting this September in Bacolod, Ormoc & Iloilo.

The event shall be broadcasted via ESPN and Star TV to over 500 million households globally and shall be seen also in the Philippines next month.
