For the sixth straight year, Puerto Princesa City, the country’s sports tourism capital plays host to the “Motocross Masters of Asia” the Philippine leg of the FIM UAM Asian Motocross Series which takes off at the city’s world-class motorcross racetrack on February 21.

Every year, the Motocross Masters of Asia brings in close to 50,000 spectators to the site on raceday making it the country’s premier spectator sport event. The annual meet pits champion riders from Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand, China, Mongolia, Guam, Saipan, UAE, Sri Lanka and the Philippines and is telecast to over 490 million viewers worldwide by the ESPN-Star Cable TV Networks.

Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn is once again extending his full support for the event to duplicate the success garnered by its predecessors. Up for grabs anew is the Mayor Hagedorn Cup, a handsome sterling silver trophy that awaits the overall winner in the centerpiece Asian 125cc class.. The visiting riders will be treated to a tour of the city’s favorite destinations such as the Crocodile Farm, the pristine beaches in Honda Bay and the flora and fauna and wildlife reserve near the St. Paul Subterranean River among others.

The 2009 Rider of the Year Kenneth San Andres heads the banner cast of young local riders competing in the premiere 125cc category this year. San Andres finished fourth overall after missing out one of the rounds but capped his 2009 campaign on a high note by finishing third overall in the first-ever Saudi Arabia Motocross Grand Prix, the final round of the 2009 FIM UAM Asian Motocross Series.

The 2010 Motocross Masters of Asia is a presentation of the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA).
